Continuing Up The West Coast Of Turkey, And Discovering Chios.

I continued traveling up the west coast of Turkey, and stopped off at Ephesus in Selçuk, an ancient 10th century (BC) Roman city. The most impressive monument of the archeological site was the Library of Celsus, with the front well restored, it was easy to see it in all of it’s beauty.

I headed up to Cesme, and decided to go to the Greek island Chios. It was only a 25 minute ferry ride, and it was crazy how much had changed from being in Turkey. Going from a muslim country to Greece, members of the catholic church, everything was completely different. Chios was peaceful and charming, and walking off the beaten track exploring the quiet side streets surrounded by mountains, was a refreshing breather from how chaotic I was finding my time in Turkey.

First Stop, Bodrum.

Finally getting round to blogging my travels from this summer.

First stop was Bodrum on the south west coast of Turkey. Turkey was a really spontaneous trip, I made lots of Turkish friends on my year abroad who loved their country so much, they made it sound amazing, so I had to see what I was missing.  I found the cheapest flight I could for July on easyjet, and ended up in Bodrum.

The town of Bodrum was so incredibly touristy, the shops were full of the generic holiday tat, prices were in Euros, not Turkish Lira (making things more expensive) and everybody was speaking English EVERYWHERE!

So I took refuge by the sea. It definitely redeemed itself; I have never seen such beautiful clear blue waters, obviously coming from the UK, i’m used to muddy grey sea and skies for my local beach trips. But this was stunning.

No filter/editing/anything necessary!

‘Camel Beach’ about 45 minutes bus ride out of Bodrum. Yes there were only two camels, and it was 15 Lira for a 4 minute ride around the car park. Poor Camels!

Faro, Portugal.

I don’t know about you, but I have so many photos that I’ve taken and never re-visited to edit or post! I’m an expert in procrastination, so now I’m finally posting photos from a trip to Faro, in the south of Portugal.

Faro was a lovely little town, I went before high season; so it was perfect to experience the beauty of the Algarve without the masses of tourists that flock there for the summer.
