‘Motion’ by Bill Wadman

Long exposure portraits of dancers.

Wadman used a three second shutter speed, and an aperture of f11 to prevent the depth of field becoming too shallow.

I love the warm tones and the soft lighting on the body against the grey/black backdrop. The snippets of fast and slow movement contrasts in dance is brought to light in these images, capturing parts of a solid figure with a motion blur of skin swiping around the body, and then to the outstretched extremities.

I find some of the clothing to be a little distracting, I get softness and beauty from these images, but the harsh red colours confuse me. In my opinion, the nude colour palette works better.
