Shooting For The Final Picbod Project.

I have a great interest in all dance forms, I am drawn in by the beauty and power portrayed  by the body in such an expressive art form.

I also love the aspect of performance, a role one creates for themselves  totally transformed by the theatrical setting, music and the costumes.

I wanted to photograph Ballet for this project, and was lucky enough to gain access to a rehearsal of The Nutcracker at the English National Opera House performed by The English National Ballet.

I wanted to use a slow shutter speed to capture the dance as an abstract form. To show the fluidity, and tell more of a story of movement than you get from one single fast shutter frame, freezing a split second moment. This way it shows the dance in its continuous nature, always moving, living.
