This week, I visited the Christmas markets in Birmingham. The city was bustling with shoppers and tourists, buzzing with Christmas cheer. The sweet scents of warm crepes and mulled wine filled the air, and thousands of tiny coloured lights decorated the dark streets. These things drew me in, making me want to spend the little money I had on overpriced food and novelty Christmas tat. Nevertheless, the atmosphere of the funfair and the market brightened up the dark, cold winter’s night, and left me in an excited and happy mood.
